You can easily make yo-yo’s entirely by hand. However, using this handy tool results in yo-yo’s that are almost identical in size and appearance. Made by hand, the yo-yo folds have a more “gathered” look. With this tool, the folds appear to be more “pleated”. Your fabric is cut by hand after it is secured by the tool, so you also have a built-in template for cutting the circles (although I read that the Olfa circle cutter is wonderful if you want to cut all the circles ahead of time).
